It’s pear season. Let’s celebrate with this simple and elegant Caramelized Pear Tart. Start with a sheet of puff pastry. Place very thin slices of a Bosc pear on the pastry sheet. Sprinkle with brown sugar and bake for 18-20 minutes. To finish, dust with powered sugar and a drizzle of honey. Call it a breakfast pastry or a simple dessert.
Caramelized Pear Tart
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 large bosc pear, stemmed, thinly sliced lengthwise and seeded
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
honey for drizzling
powdered sugar for dusting
Preheat oven to 400˚F.
Place puff pastry onto a baking sheet lined with parchment.
Arrange and gently press slices of pear into puff pastry and top each slice with a sprinkle of brown sugar.
Bake tart in oven for 18 to 22 minutes or until puff pastry is golden brown and pear and sugar have caramelized.
Remove from oven and cool, about 5 minutes.
Drizzle with honey and dust with powdered sugar. Slice and serve.
